When Melissa and Sean envisioned their dream wedding, they wanted something intimate, romantic, and truly special. Their mountaintop wedding at Malibu Rocky Oaks Winery couldn’t have been more perfect! Perched high above the Santa Monica Mountains, this picturesque vineyard offers stunning 360-degree views and a venue that feels right out of Italy.

Afterward, Melissa shared, “Malibu Rocky Oaks estate really set the tone for most of our style & theme. It looks like an Italian villa surrounded by a beautiful vineyard up in the Santa Monica mountains. We enjoy wine so the vineyard aspect was a great selling point & felt more personal. Our wedding was very intimate with a romantic, lightly rustic feeling & a guest count of only 80.”

As wedding photographers, we have to admit that Malibu Rocky Oaks Winery is one of our favorite venues to shoot in the area. With a location like this, every photo turns into a masterpiece. Helping the Couple Steal Away for A Private Moment

Before joining their guests, Melissa and Sean snuck away to a private nook of the venue for a romantic moment alone. Of course, we followed them, as any good wedding photographer does, but after taking a few pictures we also snuck away so the couple could be truly alone. It was a beautiful, private moment that the staff at Rocky Oaks Winery helped to make even more speical.

“We were greeted by one of the waiters who popped a bottle of champagne for us & served us some of the appetizers & dinner. We didn’t allow any photography or anyone else to join us. It was a very special & private moment we shared overlooking the mountains & having our own private celebration of just getting married,” Melissa recalled.

A Classic Tuscan-Style Reception at Rocky Oaks Winery in Malibu

It’s hard to say which Rocky Oaks is most known for – the mountaintop views or the gorgeous tuscan-style reception terrace. Knowing this, Melissa opted for a more simplistic, and classically beautiful table setting to compliment the views.

“I opted for vintage rose, rose gold, ivory, dusty lavender & dark green ivy colors. Table settings had a simple antique vibe with neutral colors & candles wrapped the long floral ivy all the way down the middle.”

“The sunsets there are magical & we had an incredible band who played acoustics throughout the ceremony & cocktail hour.  Our theme was for earthy simplicity but mostly we wanted everyone to feel the love we really had for one another.”
