This romantic cottagecore wedding is oozing alllll of secret garden vibes… and the setting was simply perfect, a private estate tucked away in the forest of Northern California. Liz and Matt made the The Pythian House Cottage the focal point of their vibe, from their wedding colors (sage green and dusty lilac) to the fairytale lighting over their dreamy dinner reception under the redwood trees.
“I picked out my dress in college, but I always figured it wouldn’t be around by the time I got married. About 6 years later, while Matt and I were earlier in our relationship, I happened to see it in a store. I decided against trying it on at the time, but I thought then I might actually get to wear it. When I got engaged I immediately went and tried it on, telling myself not to be biased but it was definitely the dress. Once I ordered it, they discontinued it. I bought one of the last of my size in the country. It feels almost like it was waiting for me.”

“I wanted to stick with muted pastels alongside the redwoods. It also felt very fairy-esque alongside the other elements of the property such as the chandeliers, creek, and ivy around the reception area.”
They also included their cats in a few elements… such as the drink signs and the cake toppers! SO cute.
“When we were trying cakes, we went to a few places. We got some cupcakes from Draeger’s Market in San Mateo, and we tried the red velvet one first. We immediately threw out our previous plans and decided to order this cake. It was THAT GOOD. Matt’s sister also decorated it with dried flowers I got on Etsy and we had custom cake toppers make to resemble our cats.”
