Carnival meets Secret Garden Wedding in Malibu
Marisa and Kyle Newacheck know how throw a party. Being in the film and television industry (aka a writer for Workaholics, you’ll spot some familiar faces in the wedding party!), they thought of every detail. The inspiration for their wedding was “Carnival meets Secret Garden” and Calamigos Ranch in Malibu was the perfect setting for their vision. Kyle and Marisa teamed up with Kat Keane to bring their dream wedding to life. This Malibu wedding site is one of our favorites, it makes it easy to make amazing photos with the gorgeous, lush greenery everywhere you turn. After having been to Japan, I absolutely adore their vision for the cherry blossom reception, imitating Sakura when the blossoms are in bloom each year.
Knowing Kyle and Marisa’s love for New Orleans music, Kat made sure Dust Bowl Revival, a hot jazz and funk band, was part of the night. They kept everyone dancing and even led a lively second line procession with the bride and groom after the ceremony! Bringing a little NOLA to Los Angeles is always a good idea!
After locking in the perfect Malibu wedding site, Kat had a brilliant idea: customized cherry blossom trees to create the “Secret Garden” vibe Marisa was dreaming of. With Kat’s design vision, The Little Branch crafted stunning vintage floral centerpieces and sprinkled rose petals around the sweetheart table. “Kat designed a wedding reception that included cherry blossom trees, a multitude of chandlers, tons of candles, loads rose petals and much to our surprise, a huge paper flower installation as our sweetheart backdrop!” Adding to the magic, Kat surprised the couple with a French cotton paper floral backdrop from Fanciful Designs behind the sweetheart table. And let’s not forget the mouth-watering cake and dessert bar by Superfine Bakery – delicious! “I have a serious sweet tooth. So we had “dessert before dinner” hors d’oeuvres served to guests. So along with mini hot dogs that were so delish, the guests were also served mini eclairs and lemon tarlets. We had a candy bar and our naked wedding cake was adorned with more desserts! YUM!”
Their romantic wedding photos were all about the garden vibes and FUN! Marisa and Kyle told us they wanted the romantic and super-fun photos and we took that as a great privilege to create amazing wedding memories for them. In Marisa’s words, “My advice to future couples: Be present on your wedding day. Trust your team. Hire a wedding planner. Enjoy the process as much as possible. Plan ahead and be prepared.”
