Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, Descanso Gardens set the stage for a beautiful blend of American and Korean wedding traditions. We met the couple after their planning had started. They told us they wanted to honor both the bride’s Korean heritage and the groom’s American roots while celebrating their future together.
And they did! The wedding was romantic, deeply personal, and a perfect reflection of the traditions that shaped who they are.

Of course we snuck away with the couple for a private moment between the ceremony and the reception! Taking a moment together is one of the biggest recommendations we give our couples. It gives us a chance to get couples photos and, more importantly, it gives our couples a moment to breathe and enjoy each other’s presence on such a big, busy day.
The Paebaek ceremony is a Korean wedding tradition where the couple shares drinks and snacks with their elders at a low table. In return, their parents offer advice, blessings, and symbolic gifts. The ceremony ends with dates and chestnuts being tossed, symbolizing the future children they hope to have — dates for sons and chestnuts for daughters. (You can sneak a peek and see the elders were really hoping for a little girl in their future!)
Both the bride and the groom were glowing during the entire ceremony. They sat at the head of the reception, allowing family and friends to look on and experience it with them. This mix of cultural traditions made the day unique and deeply meaningful for the couple.
After the Paebaek, the couple changed back into their white dress and suit for the speeches. Family and friends lined up to share stories of the couple (which we won’t repeat, of course!) and wish them love and adventure in their new chapter. Then, the couple took to the disco ball-lit dance floor and boogied the night away!
